Allocation Funding

The Global Fund allocates funding to countries to support HIV, TB and malaria programs and to build resilient and sustainable systems for health. These allocations are made every three years at the beginning of a new allocation period.

The total amount available for allocations to countries depends on the funding raised during the corresponding three-year Replenishment cycle.

Allocations to individual countries are calculated using a formula that is predominantly based on each country’s disease burden and economic capacity. They are refined to account for important contextual factors through a transparent and accountable qualitative adjustment process.

2023-2025 Allocation Funding

The 2023-2025 allocation methodology drives funding to higher burden, lower income countries, specifically accounting for HIV epidemics among key and vulnerable populations, the threat of multidrug-resistant TB and the risk of malaria resurgence. Where there is a decrease in funding, the methodology provides sustainable and paced reductions.

In addition to Allocation Funding, additional funding is available for Catalytic Investments, through Catalytic Multicountry Funds, Matching Funds and Strategic Initiatives.
